I think one of the most revealing things about our culture today is that when you ask the average person how they eat, most will say, "Oh, I eat fine," or "I eat pretty good mostly," or something similar.
The Disconnection from Our Bodies
Why is that revealing?
Because it shows how disconnected the majority of Americans are from their bodies, their needs, and the signals being sent out regularly about how overloaded they are and how well—or unwell—they truly feel.
We have become a culture of extreme disconnection from our souls and bodies in such a profound way that it has led to the destruction of our health and our children's health in just a couple of generations.
A Closer Look at Autism
Autism is a good example. When you look at many people with autism, a huge factor in the deterioration of their health lies within the digestive tract, which links directly back to the nervous system and beyond.
Many individuals with autism could see an intense reduction in symptoms with simple dietary changes. There are countless accounts of this happening, but most people don’t know this. Even their GI doctors often remain silent, which is unsettling to say the least.
What is a "Good Diet"?
So let's step back for a moment.
What is a "good diet"? How would you define it? What is that definition based on? Is it based on your own conditioning? Is it reflective of how you were raised? Or perhaps it stems from unconscious behaviors and addictive patterns you've developed over the years?
The Complexity of Health
What does it mean to be healthy?
It's such a loaded term, one that seems to carry a vast spectrum of perceptions behind it. This leaves everyone confused, grasping for true health any way they can, searching for the guru who will save them from their addictive lifestyles.
But let’s be honest.
Americans have NO idea what true wellness is.
I would argue that at least 90% of people would be wrong when they say they "have a pretty good diet." The state of health in our country reflects this. The health of our children also points back to the behaviors of their parents.
Defining Wellness
So what is wellness?
What does it mean to be well?
I would define wellness as being in a state of homeostasis and intentional living. This can have its own array of ideologies, but it’s a challenging question to answer.
I’d also say that I am not currently well. And I bet you aren’t either.
If everyone were more honest with themselves, we could make significant strides in the health of our country. However, there are many distractions, a lack of accountability, and biased information out there. This information is often spread to keep people buying certain products and supporting aspects of the food industry and allopathic medicine. Yes, they are very much linked!
The Doctor's Dilemma
Your doctor may not be able to tell you what a healthy diet truly is. They’ve been conditioned under a food pyramid scheme that promotes a "balanced" diet, which often includes unhealthy food groups alongside a smattering of raw foods.
But I’m going to share the biggest secret you’ll ever hear!
Stop with the diet trends and the new fitness gurus who promise all the tricks to losing weight and hacking your diet. Just eat more raw foods!
Yes, it’s that simple. Eat more raw foods and eat less of everything else!
I know, it’s not really that simple. There’s a lot of addiction and conditioning behind HOW and WHY you eat the way you do.
Where Do We Start?
So where do we start?
At the root. Unravel and unlearn everything you THINK you know about wellness and start from scratch.
And THAT is not an easy feat.
That’s what I’m here for. I’ve been through so much of this myself and have learned so much along the way.
I’m NOT a picture-perfect social media person convincing you that I have it all together. Because I don’t!
I know I don’t always make the "right" choices. And then I ask myself... Why?
This is where the real nutritional shadow work begins.
Upcoming Workshops and Courses
Each month, I am bringing a new workshop to you. In November, I will be launching a wellness course. I haven’t put it together yet, but it will be coming! So stay tuned for that!
Rewild your Wellness,
