As a new mom, 13 years ago, I didn't know what I was getting into. Many of us didn't.
I followed most of the general recommendations in pregnancy, yet felt a little twinge in my gut each time I did, that was telling me to ask more questions.
I thought I was doing everything right and being diligent, but the whole time, I KNEW that there was more to this transition into motherhood that I was missing. And I found out in my second birth just what that was.
After my first baby was born, in hospital, induced, due to pre-eclampsia symptoms, I committed to never allow that to happen again.
I knew that I held more power in my body and birth than what I was told in that experience.
Doctors will tell you that things happen and it's just genetics or random emergencies that cannot be controlled, but…
